11 Aug Return to the Nest
The UofL Alumni Association and a bunch of student groups get together to throw an epic party each fall. It’s Homecoming, and it’s the one time of year when students, faculty, staff and alumni from around the globe gather on campus to celebrate. It’s really our greatest tradition and we celebrate who we are. Here’s what you can expect:
Celebrating in the Streets
The night before Homecoming, be on the lookout for the annual homecoming parade. Student organizations create floats representing the theme and marching bands play down Third Street. Join in through an RSO or cheer along from the sidewalks.
Wear Red to Be Fed
Enjoy hot dogs or burgers for the mere price of wearing red at the Wear Red to Be Fed Homecoming Cookout. SOAR (Student Organization for Alumni Relations) and SAB co-sponsor the event.
Celebrating Our Best
We celebrate the Cards who’ve given back in the biggest and best ways during the Alumni Fellows dinner. Each school at UofL nominates its alumni fellow (someone who’s made a lot of professional accomplishments or contributed to UofL’s success). Out of all of the fellows, one is selected as alumnus of the year. All of these folks are recognized at a dinner the Thursday before the football game.
The Big Game
Game day is busy, so you might as well clear out the entire day. Plan to tailgate in the morning and afternoon. Make sure to get your tickets to the big game. During halftime, the homecoming king and queen will be crowned. Hopefully, it’s the person you voted for on ULink.
